The Casa de la Cultura de Albolote hosts from Tuesday, November 3 the traveling exhibition «1526. El viaje de Carlos de Habsburgo e Isabel de Portugal a Granada», which can be visited until November 18. The exhibition is part of the events of the V Centenary of the monarchs' stay in Granada and is organized by the Diputación de Granada, in collaboration with the Universidad de Granada (UGR) and the town councils of the municipalities it passes through. The tour reviews the journey that Emperor Charles V and his wife, Isabella of Portugal, made to Granada after marrying in Seville in March 1526. The exhibition focuses on the historical context of that episode and on the political, social and cultural weight that the presence of the imperial court had in the city, a stay that left its mark on its history and its heritage.

An exhibition that tours the province

Albolote is one of the stops of this traveling program, which will also pass through Pinos Puente, Santa Fe and Alcalá la Real. The aim is to take the activities of the fifth centenary beyond the capital and bring this historical episode closer to the residents of other localities. As a complementary activity, on November 9, 2026 at 19:00 a lecture will be held at the Iglesia de la Encarnación by the professors of the Universidad de Granada Francisco Sánchez-Montes González and Rafael López Guzmán. The exhibition can be visited at the Casa de la Cultura de Albolote until November 18, as detailed by the Ayuntamiento de Albolote. The lecture on November 9 will take place at the Iglesia de la Encarnación at 19:00.
