The reading club of the Biblioteca Pública Municipal Hurtado de Mendoza, in Órgiva, held its monthly meeting last Friday. On this occasion, the participants worked on «The Elegance of the Hedgehog», the second novel by the French writer and philosophy teacher Muriel Barbery.
A philosophical novel
As the Ayuntamiento de Órgiva details, the work moves between literary fiction and the philosophical novel, and has become an international literary phenomenon with more than a million copies sold.
After the reading, the participants shared their impressions and reflections on the book in an atmosphere of exchange and debate, as the Consistorio notes.
The library, also on Library Day
The club's activity adds to the programme that the municipal library has planned for this week. The portal reported on October 21 that the centre has organised for Friday, October 23, from 18:00 to 19:00, the activity «La Biblioteca Infinita», with literary games and shared readings in collaboration with Irisol Sandoval, framed within Library Day, which is commemorated on Saturday, October 24.
