Motril hosts the Andalusian Eastern Championship of Under-12 and Under-14 athletics on Saturday, October 24
Around 350 young athletes will compete on Saturday, October 24, at the Polideportivo Municipal Emilio Hidalgo Pérez in Motril, from 10:00. Admission is free for the public.
Motril is once again the venue for an athletics competition. On Saturday, October 24, from 10:00, the Polideportivo Municipal Emilio Hidalgo Pérez hosts the Andalusian Eastern Individual Under-12 and Combined Under-14 Championship, in which around 350 young athletes from different parts of Andalusia will take part.
Free admission
The competition is open to the entire public, with no conditions for attending having been announced. The deputy mayor for Sports of the Motril City Council, Daniel Ortega Moreno, has encouraged citizens to come to the sports centre to support the participants.
Last edition with this format
The president of the Andalusian Athletics Federation, Enrique López Cuenca, has explained that this will be the last edition with the current format. From next season, the championship will be organised as a competition of individual events for the whole of Andalusia. López Cuenca also noted the educational value of the combined events in the Under-14 category, which introduce athletes to different athletics disciplines.
Grassroots sport
The coach of the Club de Atletismo Ciudad de Motril, Iván Gallardo, also took part in the presentation of the event and stressed its educational nature: «The most important thing is that the children enjoy doing athletics, that they have experiences with their teammates and that they take away memories that encourage them to keep practising sport».

No procedure is required to watch the competition. You just have to go to the Polideportivo Municipal Emilio Hidalgo Pérez in Motril on Saturday, October 24, from 10:00. Admission is free.
