The Diputación de Granada is holding the Provincial Youth Conference on October 21 and 22 at the Hotel Playa Cálida in Almuñécar, under the motto "Sociocultural Agents: 25 years making province. Weaving the future with youth". The meeting commemorates a quarter of a century of work on youth matters and brings together sociocultural agents and technical staff from the province.

What it is for

According to the Diputación, the aim is to share experiences, strengthen coordination among professionals and make progress on public policies adapted to the needs of young people in the municipalities of Granada. The conference is conceived as a space for reflection, training and exchange intended to consolidate the provincial network of sociocultural agents and youth technical staff.

The programme

The first day began with a talk on the opportunities of the Erasmus+ programme and the European Solidarity Corps, given by Olivia Ávila Ruiz, from the Asociación Niñas del Tul. Afterwards, the coordinator of the Instituto Andaluz de la Juventud, Javier Bravo, addresses collaboration between this body and sociocultural agents. In the afternoon, youth participation will take centre stage with the presentation of the Foro Provincial de Juventud, in which its vice-presidents, Martina López and Laureano M. Aguado, will take part, together with Álvaro Espinar, from the Consejo de la Juventud de Guadix. The day will close with a space for exchanging good practices. On Thursday, October 22, the programme continues with a session devoted to development and the Gestalt approach, given by social educator Francisco Sierra Luque and sociologist Alba Sierra Mateos. The meeting will end with a practical block on exchanging resources and experiences.

Who says so

The deputy for Centros Sociales, Mayores y Juventud, Roberto González, has stated that "these 25 years represent a track record of commitment to the youth of our province, especially to that of the smallest municipalities", where the work of sociocultural agents is essential to bring resources and opportunities closer.
