The Virgen de las Angustias, patron saint of Pinos Puente, will preside over the Vigil of the Immaculate Conception held on December 7. This was announced by the Real Federación de Hermandades y Cofradías de Semana Santa de Granada at its first Plenary of the course of Hermanos Mayores, held at its headquarters in the Centro Ágora.
The image was recently restored in the workshops of Julio Alcaraz and, according to recent studies, the carving belonged to the close circle of Torcuato Ruiz del Peral, in the 18th century.
The Vía Crucis of 2027
For next year's Official Vía Crucis of the Hermandades y Cofradías de Semana Santa de Granada, the Real Federación has designated Nuestro Padre Jesús del Amor y la Entrega, popularly known as «El Manuel». The choice is due to the 50th anniversary of its penitential brotherhood, founded on April 3, 1977 and with statutes approved on March 31, 1978.
Transfers after the Cathedral exhibition
The hermanos mayores have also addressed the transfers of the images and thrones taking part in the exhibition «Kerygma. El arte de evangelizar», which can be visited at the Cathedral until November 27. Once closed, the transfers will take place on November 28, departing at 10:00 from the S.A.I. Catedral.
The organization is working on the routes and setups of the parihuela plan by days and envisages two scenarios, since the weather will have to be taken into account and whether the electoral board raises objections to the transfer for occupation of public roads ahead of the elections of November 29. In that case, the Real Federación announces that it would take place on December 5.
Training and other matters
The archbishop of Granada, José María Gil Tamayo, attended the Plenary and announced a training plan for hermanos mayores and governing boards. According to the Real Federación, Gil Tamayo noted that governing responsibilities in the brotherhoods require a preparation that cannot be limited to knowledge of traditions or internal rules. «Ya no vale con la estampita», he said, referring to the need to respond to the questions of today's society.
In his address, at the doctrinal point of the meeting, the archbishop spoke about extraordinary processions and the calendar of worship, and stated that the meaning of the liturgical year must be recovered: «Un culto tiene un tiempo y un lugar». He also highlighted the brotherhood houses as places of meeting and coexistence and the social action of the corporations, and invited them to look to the future «sin perder de vista su razón de ser» ahead of the founding centenary that the Real Federación celebrates this year.
The episcopal delegate for Hermandades y Cofradías, José Gabriel Martín Rodríguez, also attended the Plenary. Among other matters, the hermanos mayores discussed greater collaboration with the Economato Diocesano and the photography competition that will choose the images for the poster and the cover of the itinerary book of the Semana Santa of 2027.
