The Ecomarket of the University of Granada (UGR) holds a special day on Thursday, October 22 at the Fuentenueva Campus, from 10:00 to 14:00. The activity is open to the entire university community and to the public, and this edition includes an agroecological breakfast.
Talks and pilot projects
Throughout the morning there will be talks on the importance of living soils, their role in biodiversity, food production and ecosystem sustainability. The pilot projects of the European project SOILCRATES will also be presented, explaining the experimental regenerative agriculture practices being developed on various farms in the province of Granada.
The day is part of SOILCRATES and Granada Tierra Viva, and will bring together researchers, farmers, producers and the public. According to the Vice-Rectorate for Social Innovation, Employability and Entrepreneurship, the aim is to disseminate the province's initiatives that seek to improve soil health and move towards sustainable and regenerative agriculture.
Local products
A visit to the Ecomarket allows you to taste local agroecological products and meet the people who grow and prepare them. The UGR notes that the event helps bring research closer to the territory, learn about agricultural innovation experiences and strengthen the links between the University and local productive sectors.
