Motril hosts the tenth edition of the Tropicaza and Perdiz con Reclamo 'Al Alba' Fair this weekend. It is held on Saturday, October 24 and Sunday, October 25 in the new pavilion, or pavilion two, of the Emilio Hidalgo Pérez Municipal Sports Centre, from 10:00 until closing. Entry is free.

Partridge farms and exhibitors

The event is organised by the Club Deportivo de Caza Los Tablones and the Sports Department of the City Council. According to the club, five of the best partridge farms in Andalusia will take part, showing specimens and sharing their experience in breeding this species. Alongside them there will be exhibitors and activities involving crafts, gastronomy and specialised products. Among the planned stalls are virtual shooting demonstrations, hunting clothing and equipment, Iberian cured meats, leather crafts, T-shirt printing and food stalls. A master chocolatier from Berja will also attend.

Falconry and children's competition

The programme includes a falconry exhibition on Sunday from 11:30. That same day, at 13:00, a children's painting competition will be held. Miguel Sánchez, organiser of the event on behalf of the Club Deportivo de Caza Los Tablones, has said that the fair is also open to those who are not hunting enthusiasts and has encouraged the public to come and see the exhibitors and keep alive the tradition of partridge calling.

Visits and contact

The deputy mayor of the Sports Department, Daniel Ortega Moreno, has said that the fair energises the sports facilities with proposals for enthusiasts, families and visitors. The deputy mayor of Tourism Promotion, Mara Escámez, has invited the public to visit an event that, she said, maintains a family spirit. For any queries, you can contact Miguel Sánchez on 669 289 801 or at miguel-tablones@hotmail.com.
