The confraternity members from Granada who have died this year will have their mass. The church of Santiago hosts on Thursday, November 5, at 19:30 hours, a eucharist in suffrage for the deceased brothers of the confraternities that are part of the Real Federación de Hermandades y Cofradías de Semana Santa de Granada. The brotherhoods and their families are called to the celebration. The Federación invites participation «united in prayer for our deceased brothers and in closeness to those who mourn their absence», as the entity has indicated. The mass is celebrated in communion with the whole Church and in it those who shared the life of the confraternities will be remembered before the altar, with hope placed in the resurrection. The appointment is framed in the centenary year of the Federación, which completes one hundred years of service to the Church and to Granada. Last October 24, the vicar of Pastoral and chief chaplain of the Capilla Real, José Carlos Isla Tejera, spoke at the Centenary gala held in the auditorium of Caja Rural, representing the archbishop, José María Gil Tamayo. In his speech, Isla highlighted that 32 brotherhoods walk together under the motto «Cor unum» and recalled the origins of the Federación and its link with Nuestra Señora de las Angustias. The eucharist is celebrated under the protection of the patron saint of Granada and its archdiocese. The Federación raises its prayer so that, according to its words, «the Lord welcomes them in his peace and grants consolation to their families».

An appointment open to confraternity families

No registration or ticket is needed to attend. It is enough to go to the church of Santiago on Thursday, November 5 at 19:30 hours. The Federación asks the brotherhoods to pass on the call to their families to accompany those who have lost a brother.
